KANYE WEST: Name Change
Is Kanye West getting ready to pull a Diddy on us?
He's hinting that he's going to start using his new album title, Yeezus, as his name, too. Ye made the announcement last night at a listening party for Yeezus, telling members of the media and music industry, "Simply put, West was my slave name and Yeezus is my god name.”
West also told the crowd that Yeezus will reveal him at his most raw, promising, "This album is about giving...no [f-word]s at all."
Yeezus says he has a straightforward marketing plan for his album, which drops next week. "I gotta new strategy... It's called no strategy. And I gotta way to sell more music. It's called make better music."
I’M JUS SAYIN’: Ya think his daughter’s last name will be Yeezus… And uh, for someone who has no strategy plan he sure is throwing a lot of event… IJS
JILL SCOTT: Trashes Twerking
Jill Scott obviously isn't a fan of twerking.
She dissed the dance craze on Twitter, writing, "Twerking was invented when some woman of African descent ran out of toilet paper. There’s plenty now. K-Mart, 7-11, Target… Good prices, too."
But when several followers protested that Scott was needlessly dissing women of African descent, Scott replied, "Relax, it’s a joke. Visuals, darling. Visuals." But people still complained that they didn't see the humor in her Tweet…
I’M JUS SAYIN’: If a white artist had posted that, Twitter would have been in a riot… Jilly! Stick to the singing & leave the comedy to Kevin… IJS
DJ QUIK: Daughter Arrested for Murdering Her Son
DJ Quik's daughter has been arrested in Phoenix for allegedly beating her two-year-old son to death.
According to Phoenix CBS 5 News, Davieanna Marlena Blake, 21, and Darnell Moses Alvarez, 24, face possible first-degree murder charges after they were found standing over their two-year-old son's body outside their apartment last week.
Alvarez claims that he disciplined the child with a cloth belt for wetting his bed. But police say that the child had multiple bruises on his legs, arms, buttocks, back and face, all of which were inconsistent with being hit with a cloth belt.
Quik's daughter told police she and Alvarez had argued earlier in the day and that when he started beating her son with the belt, she didn't intervene out of fear. She also said that when she returned home from work and found her their son unresponsive, she and Alvarez argued over whether to call an ambulance.
