Everybody works with people that are either incompetent or simply unbearable. It’s sometimes a mystery why companies don’t just fire them
According to human resources experts, here are some reasons that bad employees often stick around …
- Employee has a relationship with a head honcho – The relationship doesn’t even have to be romantic or family. Many times, it’s just a friendship.
- Employee’s value to the company is worth the hassle – High producers in the workplace can often get away with more because they are considered superstars. If they make the company a ton of money, they can pretty much do what they want, whether you like it or not.
- The boss thinks it could be worse – The devil your bosses know could be better than the devil your bosses don’t know.
- The boss is afraid of the employee – If the boss is afraid an employee might sue the company, it might take longer to get him or her out the door. And then there’s always the fear of somebody “going postal” when given the bad news …
- The boss doesn't want to go through the hiring process – Hiring and training people takes a lot of time and effort. Your boss might be too lazy or tired to tackle the challenge.
- The employee knows something – Blackmail is fun, isn’t it? Don’t you wish YOU knew something? Then you too could spend all day goofing off and annoying people!
